No captions? Use AI
Transcribe YouTube videos that have no captions.
Some videos have no subtitles at all, so there's no text to read. Paste the link first: if captions exist you get them free. If not, upload the audio and AI transcribes it for you.
Sign in to keep a history of every video you transcribe.
How it works
- 1
Paste the link
We check the video for any caption track first, including auto-generated ones.
- 2
No captions? Upload the audio
If there's nothing to read, you'll see an upload box. Add the audio or video file, up to 24 MB.
- 3
Get the AI transcript
AI turns the speech into text you can copy or download as a .txt file.
Why some YouTube videos have no transcript
YouTube only shows a transcript when a video has a caption track. Creators can turn captions off, and auto-captions are skipped for some videos, such as ones that are very new, very long, have poor audio, or are in an unsupported language.
When there's no caption track, no tool can pull text from YouTube directly. The speech has to be transcribed from the audio instead.
How AI transcription works here
- Included with the AI plan
- Upload an audio or video file of up to 24 MB
- You get plain text without timestamps, so there's no .srt for AI transcripts
- Signed-in users keep AI transcripts in their history
Frequently asked questions
- How do I get a transcript of a YouTube video without captions?
- Paste the link here. If the video truly has no caption track, upload its audio and AI transcribes the speech.
- Is AI transcription free?
- Caption transcripts are free. AI transcription of uploaded audio is part of the AI plan. See the pricing page for details.
- What files can I upload?
- Most common audio and video formats, up to 24 MB. For long videos, upload the audio only to stay under the limit.
- Do AI transcripts have timestamps?
- No. AI transcripts are returned as plain text, so the timestamps toggle and .srt download are only available for caption transcripts.
